How the startup visa works

The startup visa is a residence permit for founders from outside the EU who want to start a company with an innovative product or service in the Netherlands. It is valid for one year.

One of the requirements is that you work with a trusted and experienced facilitator in the Netherlands. 42workspace is on the list of recognised facilitators of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

After the year you can apply for a residence permit as a self-employed person. For that you need a statement from your facilitator, or you must meet the standard requirements for self-employed people.

RVO lists all conditions on its startup residence permit page.

About Startup for Impact

Startup for Impact is a one-year programme for founders from outside the EU who build impact tech and want to bring it to the Dutch market. 42workspace and Proposition Hero run it together.

42workspace has been a coworking space for tech companies in the heart of Rotterdam since 2017. We are your facilitator for the visa and your base for the year.

Proposition Hero, the proposition design and market strategy company of Vitas Kersbergen, runs the optional 0-to-Hero coaching. It takes twelve months, starts with a kick-off and a personal plan for your launch in the Netherlands, and runs in four stages: foundation, development, funding and scaling.

Along the way there are workshops on value proposition design, pilot design and investor pitch decks, plus events and investor pitches with other impact founders.
